Long before Portland’s East Side industrial district became a hub for culinary creatives, Dan Pitman was dealing used restaurant equipment out of multiple properties in the heart of the district. As his first foray into development, he created a home for some of his best customers. The 14,700 sf Pitman Building contains six ground level production kitchens with nine offices above to support the kitchen users. Fronting on a generous parking and loading area, glass storefronts and overhead doors allow the kitchens to sell directly to the public while making products intended for wholesale. The building has become home to a vibrant mix of tenants including food cart businesses, caterers, a vegan raw food company and a juice maker.
